Title: QITH
Post by: HoBow on February 15, 2011, 07:33:20 pm
So we've had a PITH, KITH, and now a BITH.....anybody up for a QITH (quiver in the hat)?  I broke a few bows and got my feelings hurt by the broken wood  >:( and decided I needed a break.  I've been playing with leather the last few months.  With the BITH going on, this may not be ideal timing, but thought I would throw it out there.  Any interest?

Of course! Always interested, and I would find time for it.

if i knew how to make a quiver i would  have a nice one
instead of the crappy 1970's era quiver i use in the back yard

so like NTD, i look forward to se your peoples work  ;D

Yeah I think I'll watch too. It would be awesome if one or a few of you guys would take some photos and do a build along for those of us who have no idea what we are doing. I have been wanting to make one, but haven't taken the time between my 10 other hobbies to figure it out yet.

As far as timeline, how about coinciding with the BITH? That end date is July 4th and the final sign up is Feb 28.
As far as material's, I would say anything goes EXCEPT plastic/Fiberglass? Up to the group. I plan on using wood and leather. ;)

Timeline with the BITH works for me. As far as material- bamboo, wood, leather, basket style, I'm open to anything.

Are you going to keep the list Jeff? Looks like we need one. Also, should it be a blind draw for everyone like the BITH?

Bevan

Sure- I will organize it. I'll keep the list and let Marie do the blind draw.

Double ditto for me!  Maybe I should make a trade for a quiver and then throw that quiver in the hat.  Or maybe just make a trade for the quiver and keep it.  My head hurts.  ???

I will get in Jeff, I think I can learn how to make one if I that kind of timeline. I just didn't want to get into a quiver trade if we were going to do a 2 week thing, don't think I would have had time to learn and do it justice that quickly. I'm right Handed.

We have 7 people with 7 days left. Let's get a few more :) if you aren't sure on what to do, look at this as an opportunity to learn something new and trade it off. Its about the giving not the receiving, so don't worry about the quality- do your best and have fun!

Sorry I had been working late I sent my addy to you  :) and once names are drawn can we contact our person to see how tall they are and there general body shape so if it's a plains style or over the shoulder style quiver it will fit right
Title: Re: QITH
Post by: HoBow on March 02, 2011, 10:34:55 pm
OK- I finally got the addresses put into an IM to CalendarGirl.  We should receive our victim in the next day or two.  Sterling-  You can if you want or if you want...unless everyone has a preference to keep it a surprise...what do you all think?
Title: Re: QITH
Post by: Michael C. on March 03, 2011, 01:32:42 am
I think having an idea of what size the person is could be done here if everyone wants to do that :) I'm pretty average at 5'11" 175# I don't think it would ruin the surprise if you got in touch with them either though.
Title: Re: QITH
Post by: skyarrow on March 04, 2011, 11:06:24 am
i agree its just for dimensions the person will never know  what style  you are making. most quivers hang from the shoulder except the belt style lol so i see nothing wrong with it
