Title: Nice Knots
Post by: gstoneberg on February 16, 2011, 02:22:26 am
I'm getting a stave ready for a trade and when I split out the sister it did something I've never seen before.  It pulled a knot out of the top sister and the old branch remained sticking up out of the bottom sister.  Is this common?  Too bad it's near the end of the bow limb.  It'd make a very interesting handle if it were in the middle.  Sadly, the wedge hit that old branch and nearly cut through it.  Still an interesting piece of wood.  I suspect that limb tip will be very snakey. Sadly, the other end is dead straight.
