Since discovering internet radio and getting an ipod I've really gotten into underground music. Mostly it's southern sludge metal and country. I'm a fan of all kinds of music, though, and always interested in hearing something new (but not the new "hit" stuff). So help me find some new tunes, anything from folk to gansta rap are fair game.

Look up Richard cheese he is way cool. What he does is takes popular music and makes it jazz I love it

Whenever I'm looking for something new, I always end up listening to songs that are in a different language. The video below has also got some good eye candy. 8)

That was some good good ol' down and dirty stuff, I like it.
Tim, I've been a Dropkick Murphy's fan for a while now. That's one show I really want to go to, I've even got the kilt!
Thanks for all the other suggestions everybody, and keep 'em coming if you've got any more. I'll sit down and check them all out when I get some time. For any of you fellow metal heads some of the ones I'd suggest are Down, Mastadon, and Clutch but I wouldn't really consider those underground. Some others I like that I would consider more underground are Sasquatch, Arson Anthem, Southern Flame, and Sixty Watt Shaman.
-

hes got a bunch of other bands that he likes
that i think are pretty good also
i would love to go to a DKM concert
but i think i am getting to old for the mosh pit

One of my favorite bands! elephant Riders is probably on my top-ten albums of all time list.

Not really underground but you might not have heard them. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-d3RYW0YoEk

One metal band that I recently started listening to is Accept. They're not really underground, but not mainstream either. They have a new album out, Blood of the Nations, that I think is pretty good. The (new) singer has vocals that I think rival the likes of Rob Halford. If you miss the old school type of metal with 3 guitar players lined up head banging in unison, check this video out. From about 2:30 to 3:00 will give you a pretty good demo of his vocal chops :)

Dave MAtthews Band has been my fav since 6th grade. Everything from rocking hard to really slow, chill music. They are the most talented group of musicians in a long time. They havea HUGE catalogue so if you don't like these there will be something you like

Clapton in the 80s and 90s. John Coltrane any time and Maria Callas.
-
yea that was a good one can't wait till this year.
-
How about Brantley Gilbert? love alot of his songs. kinda country/southern rockish? Hell on wheels, kick it in the sticks, Take it outside, and Country Wide are my favorite songs from him. he has some really good lovey-dovey songs to for all you emotional cave men.
-
Another metal band worth mentioning, The Sign of the Southern Cross from Asheville, NC. Kind've a Pantera sort of vibe.
Good country recommendations too, everybody. Some I've heard and some I haven't. Ya'll should definitely check out Jamey Johnson if you haven't, he's a great singer and songwriter.
Also, I'm sure most of you have heard Shooter Jennings, but if you haven't heard his new album with his band Heirophant it's worth checking out. I saw them open for Alice in Chains last year and they sounded great. It's very different from what he was playing, but still worth a listen.
-
Shooter rocks. I've seen him live, and he puts on a helluva show. Haven't heard his new band yet.

if ya like drop kick, check out flatfoot 56, the tossers, and of course flogging mollys. huge fan of the celtic hardcore
