So excited about this one that I had to post some teaser pics...I don't know why but this lil bow just tickles me so dern much ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D
Anyway, in the spirit of giving a newborn baby a "baby-sized" baseball glove or football (or whatever) a good friend of mine asked if I could make the equivalent of a traditional archery bow for his soon to be new baby (due in August...excited new daddy ;D). When I said "of course" he was very happy and said I should just do it out of some wooden dowels from Home Depot or such. I only smiled and said that I thought I could do better...I think I did.
Here are some teasers, gonna do a final smooth sand and seal it tomorrow. Will take some more pics of final tomorrow as well.
Character snakey Osage. 30" T2T, back has been taken down to single ring, it is drawing right around 10# at...wait for it...19" (Whee!)

Very cool didnt relize it was so small till reading and then noticeing the book it was on oops. We need a full draw pic lol

Looks great ! I just got done making a little one too :)
-
That will be a perfect size. At age 2-3 will be able to shoot it fine.
-
Cute little bow! String line is dead centre too. Good on you for putting in the effort instead of throwing a dowel and some string together. Says a lot about a person ;)
-
A full draw of 19" on that 30" would be nice to see ;D
-
Excellent, we'll all be wanting one. Just the job for office warfare :o.

Very cool. good job on the "baby bow"

Here's the finished pic, a "full draw" on tillering stick (I'll post some "action" photos later :P) and a couple quality control pics with my lil princess Shootsalot.

Princess Shootsalot - Sorry guys, I've tried everything to get this photo to lay vertical...It is right on my comp, but if anyone knows what the problem is or how to fix it please let me know. Thanks. - Mike'

Amazing work with how thin that wood is :o
-
that bow is awesome, even though i absolutly LOVE giant 80inch 100+ bows, i agree, making mini bows is still allot of fun, i made a 36 inch cherry bow with hemp backing, it ended up being 50 @15

Awesome bow!! I too love making the little ones. There's just something about seeing the little faces light up like a christmas tree when they get it. :)
-
just wondering, is that bow basicly 1 ring, looks at least slose to that to me ;D
-
@fishfinder401: yes it basically ended up being 1 ring with "just a wee-little touch" more wood in the handle and tips.

wow, talk about not wanting to cut into the ring you are working on, but think about it, if you are careful, you could get hundreds of bows from a single tree ;D

Closest thing I could get to an actual draw pic. The picture was too big until I cropped it to this point. I also wanted to do a comedy shot by incorporating a flaming arrow...but the wife came home early (probably kept me from burning the house down so its for the best)

That is awesome, and what a bend on that thing. Beautiful gift.

Very nice. Jawge

well... you definitely got every ounce of bow out of that piece of wood that is humanly possible... GREAT JOB! Bookmarked for February Self BOM Contest too!
