Well, here she is. 72" long from nock to nock, 95#@30". I used 2 coats of Formby's tung oil finish and 3 coats of Tru-Oil for the finish. The horn nocks are cow horn from Justin and I added silk wrap set in super glue to ease the transition from limb to horn nock and to protect the soft yew from the string. Here are a few pics....
...and my version of FULL DRAW! ;D I'll get a better full draw pic when I present it back to the guy that gave me the stave. I inscribed..."For James Parker, Thanks for the Experience" Pat

Really nicely done, Pat. Good for hunting geese from your picture. We'll look at it again for May Self Bow of the Month.
-
How many vertabrae popped during that draw ;)
Very nicely done warbow someone is gonna be pleased and proud of that baby.
Dana
-
Thanks guys.
Don, let me get a real full draw pic this weekend. I'll post pics Sunday night.
This was a fun(intimidating :o) project. I could never afford such a beautiful yew stave so when James insisted I take it as part of a trade, I knew I was going to build a war bow and give it back to him. I think he will be surprised. ;D Pat
-
awsome! Get thet thing back Pat! :o
-
it is back!!! ::) My draw length is 12" ;) Pat
-
Looks good Pat. Don't care how you do but just give us a full draw pic
-
Sunday evening Marc. Pat
-
Beautiful bow Pat, tiller looks right on. You look like me trying to draw those heavy bows. Steve
-
Mighty fine looking frenchman-sticker there Pat :) Henry V would be proud. Now crank it on back, you can do it. PS-what's that on the ground behind you in the "full-draw" pic? ;D
-
Can you say Tillering Tree. No, the tiller is great. The end of the month is only 8 days away and we need a full draw for BOM. ;D You did a great job on the bow. I'm sure James it will make James's day. Justin
-
Is that the same bow you were toting around at the Classic?
It came out real nice, It is a very nice piece of yew.
Ralph
-
Thats the one Ralph.
I guess I could get my wife to take a pic while I pull it on the tiller tree. Sheesh, you're an impatient lot! ;D
Hillbilly, that is what I was worried about at full draw. :o
Badger, this kind of shooting and drawing is 180deg away from my normal stance. :o Just don't feel natural!
Thanks for the comments guys. Pat
-
Beautiful looking bow, Pat. I really like those elb style bows with horn nocks. From pic so far the tiller looks to be right on.
Stan
-
Beautiful bow, but my arms start to ache just looking at it. I envy guys that can pull those things back.
-
A bit of over kill for kitty cat hunting but ya get em at long range now ;D
Dana
-
Now don't go hurtin yourself before a three day Holliday Pat.
NICE JOB on the war bow (if they were only still fought that way)
-
Very nice bow Pat. I like that long draw you have. ;D
It turned out very good. I wished it had been done at the classic I would have like to have drawn it for you. The finish looks great on it.
Ron

Thanks everyone. This is the first bow I've made that I can not shoot. Kinda weird ??? Pat

Good looking bow Pat. Would like to see it displayed on our rack this weekend. ;D After you give it to James ask him if we can do that. I am so looking forward to seeing you guys again. Been honing my skills up. :-[

Great job Pat! That's a really nice bow!
Sean
-
Thanks, This is a beautiful piece of yew. I just hope I did it justice.
Pappy, My thoughts exactly.
Marlon, I appreciate your comment as one who knows heavy bows.
J, yew is a fantastic bow wood and is perfect for longbows. Maybe some day I will make one I can shoot.
Sean and Dick, thanks. Dick, I'm sure James won't mind. How are you doing? Looking forward to seeing you again also. Gonna be a fun weekend. Pat
-
You really have gotten down with the ELB Pat. Great stuff.
Dave
-
Great looking bow Pat! Did you incorporate a block & tackle on your tillering tree to get that sucker tillered? ;D
-
Greg, It worked fine, although it was a bit hard pullin'. I'm just glad the tree didn't come unbolted from the cement block wall! :o
By the way, I(the maker of increasable strings) had Colene make the fast flight string for this bow. ;D
Dave, Thanks. The ELB is a style that didn't interest me much til I started building a few. Pat
-
hey pat, don't let them bug you with that full draw picture!!
it's a beautifull bow. you're a master!

Geeze, ya keep busy/away for a week or so and ya come back to find your ol' friends tryin' tuh hurt their backs - per-na-mental-ly. What is wrong with you, Pat??? Let James pull that (beautiful Yew) bow with his own durn Boa constrictors. Great bow but please go back to reg-lar bows, or youth bows, before we all have to visit you in the traction ward ;D I know you ain't as old, or puny, as me but you ain't no kid n'more. Oh yeah, fine-ice job, as usual, buddy.
(aside for you and Dick B. - it looks like I am not gonna make it to Hickory after all. I came back from Baltimore with a bad cold - that I was trying to get before I went. I am still hoping, as it is a huge disappointment to me. I feel a little better today but unless i am improved a 100% tomorrow, it's out of the Question.)
-
pat i was chuckiling at the "full draw" pic and my daughter walked up and started laughing. awesome looking bow i still want to do one just to see if i can shoot it. peace
-
Bernie, I'm not about to try to pull this bow any farther than I did in the pic. I know my limits ::)...well at least with some things. ;D Sorry you're feeling bad and that we won't see you this weekend.
Jamie, you ought to try one. this piece of yew was the best I've seen personally. It was a pleasure to work. Tomorrow the bow goes to someone that can shoot it. I did that full draw pic specifically for the guys over on the War Bow thread. Some of them have a sense of humor too. ;D Glad you and your daughter like it...but that is how far I can pull it. ;D Pat
-
Just got back from the NC State Trad Championships. Jason Butner, Arts Butner's son, pulled my bow with ease. This isn't the classic stance or draw but beggars can't be choosers. Here is the pic!

Beautiful Bow Pat!!! Very Impressive ;D David
-
David, It was impressive to watch Jason pull the bow! ;D Thanks.
Derg, Thanks Pat
-
Are you sure your going to be able to give that one away?
Ralph
-
Ralph. I have plenty of bows that I can shoot! I sure don't need one that I can't shoot! ;D I got enough of a thrill just working with such a beautiful piece of wood. Pat
-
Very nice bow Pat.Whew,Art's boy is a big'un.
-
Thanks Eddie. Jason is a brick layer and concrete finisher. Like his Dad, he's a very nice guy. My friend Alan had a 95# Ferguson long bow that the 2 of us couldn't brace together. Jason just zipped the string on and pulled it to full draw about 3 or 4 times and all he could say was...SWEEEEEEET! ;D Pat
-
Pat thats just a sweeet bow.....Brian
-
AWESOME WORK Pat!!!.... 8) 8) 8) 8)....REALLY COOL!!!... :) :) :) :)...
The tiller look´s PERFECT full-compass shaped circle...
All of that Warbow is IMO EXCELLEN!!...
Cheers and keep up that cool job Pat...
Asier.

A pleasure to see tha pic of your Yew bow at Full Draw, Pat, and a real pleasure to see Art's son handle it so easily from a regular stance. The FD will appear on my TBD pages. I've seen and talked to Art any number of times but never happened to see Jason, I don't believe - or maybne that's my lousey memory again. Anyhoow, I love the look of the bow.

Thanks Bryan, Asier and Bernie. Bernie we missed you this weekend at Hickory. Hope you're feeling better. Your site is coming along nicely. Thanks for all your work on it. Pat
-
Nice job, Pat. Tiller looks great. Jawge
-
My pleasure, Pat, and thank you. :)
-
I thought I could do good at my age with some power, but watching Jason do justice to that bow was worth going to Hickory. You had to have seen that bow, in the flash, to realy see the beauty in it. Wish it was mine. Super, super job Pat.
