Hi Folks
Just finished this 57"ntn bow from a (small leaved elm) sapling I harvested last year.
The bow draws 47# @27", bending slightly through the handle... I tillered the bow to the profile of the slightly snakey sapling, and just recurved the tips a fraction.
Tips are buffalo horn, and the finish is Danish oil

No criticism is necessary on that bow. It looks GREAT!

I really like it.
Short and simple.
I cant wait to try some elm.

I really like that bow. Nicely done.

Love it! Sapling bows are maybe my favorites.

Very nice....first (confirmed) "small leave" I have seen. Love the tiller (I find the ever so slight bend in the handle very hard to excecute).
What did you do to stain then tips...scorch them?
Cheers

Thanks everyone for the kind comments
I have to say that I'm really pleased with the speed of this bow. It's often hard to find a decent straight piece of elm, but this particular one was growing really slowly in the bottom of a deep gully, I have another stave from a nearby tree which I plan to start soon
The tips were stained with leather dye, and just blended in with a cloth and alcohol.

Nice bow Keith.

When you say small leaved elm are you talking about winged elm?
-
What a cool bow. Nice work!

Keith....sweeeet. Love how you pulled that one off. I have'nt worked elm yet but I can tell I'm gonna have to. There are too many nice bows out there made with it to ignore it any longer. Danny

I'm in Scotland, and the species is Ulmus minor. We get around four different species of elm here, and I think they can even cross pollinate (Though I'm not 100% sure)
