thanks guys for the nice comments . Scott i use my disc sander on the side of my stationary belt sander for most wood removal . the rest is just knowing what and where to take it from. as someone once said take everything off that doesnt look like a bow

Not a good idea to cut a nock groove across the back of your bow, makes a weak spot. i would add an overlay to be on the safe side.

How think is the hickory backing?
-
what do you mean only 3/4" set? lol I'm happy with 1.5-2" set haha
-
Eric this is a 1/4 sawn backing and i didnt cut through it ,out of 79 bows with over half being cut across the back none have failed.most of the molles because of limb lever design and all my limbs that are narrowed more than straight taper calls for are built this way. i would agree with you if it was plain sawn( which i dont use ) but not 1/4

I always thought this would be a horrible combo. Guess thats what I get for thinking.
Good job.

bigcountry this is a good combo , very strong wood combo and it produced good weight with low set in a 60 inch bow so definitely an option
