Title: hickory backed red oak

heres another one i had glued up and cut out , finished after supper. 60 inches tip to tip 1 3/8th at fades 3/8th tips . 54 lbs at 28 hickory backed red oak . stained with acrylic cherry , bout 3/4 set but like with the other one small package bow and exceptable set in my opinion.

thanks guys for the nice comments . Scott i use my disc sander on the side of my stationary belt sander for most wood removal . the rest is just knowing what and where to take it from. as someone once said take everything off that doesnt look like a bow

Not a good idea to cut a nock groove across the back of your bow, makes a weak spot. i would add an overlay to be on the safe side.

what do you mean only 3/4" set? lol I'm happy with 1.5-2" set haha

Eric this is a 1/4 sawn backing and i didnt cut through it ,out of 79 bows with over half being cut across the back none have failed.most of the molles because of limb lever design and all my limbs that are narrowed more than straight taper calls for are built this way.  i would agree with you if it was plain sawn( which i dont use ) but not 1/4

bigcountry this is a good combo , very strong wood combo and it produced good weight with low set in a 60 inch bow so definitely an option
