This is my first attempt at doing a Juniper bow. It came from a limb. The only trouble I had with this is that I left too much sap wood on it because it has two inches of set. The next one I try, I want to do all heartwood and compare the two. It has two courses of elk sinew, rattle snake skin. It is 51 inches nock to nock. It is an inch and a half at the fade outs to half inch tips. It is 40 lbs at 25 inch draw. The handle is corded dogbane. Hope you guys enjoy. John

That tiller is a thing of beauty!

Those are some good looking C. oreganus on the back of that bow. Tiller looks incredible. That Juniper is some gorgeous wood! Nice work!
-
Wow John, that turned out very nice. The tiller looks great and love the paint highlights. Did you start out with any reflex before you sinewed? Just took another look at those nice snake skins. I really like the looks of those. Well done Bro. ;)
-
thanks so much guys...i want to work with juniper some more but its a pain in the butt to find a good branch...keenan,it had no reflex..SO,that is what i might need on the next try..thanks john

Hey Blacktail, sapwood or not, set or no, I think it turned out incredible. Great job!
-
Wow the grain on the belly is astounding. I like my ash bows but, when I see that, I wish I lived a little more to the south to have access to wood like that.
Stunning bow!

Great looking bow John. Love the edges. I think juniper sapwood works great. The Cheyenne used all sap on many of there bows. Tp avoid set, less wood and more sinew. But many bows that take set shoot great so who cares
-
John that is a sweet bow tiller looks great! Like everything about it all around

That is a pretty one, John. Tiller is dead on. I'm sorry to hear about the "set" though, I can live with it if you want to send it this way? ::) ;D ;)
-
Very nice, tiller looks great. You did a great job on it.
-
suhh...weet. Great job!
-
did a great job there, the whole thing is nice. i realy like to see the rings running out the limb right down the middle. again grear job.
-
MAN,you guys are the GREATEST..I really didnt think i did that great of a job tillering..BUT,since YOU are the pros...thank you
-
Great job John. I look forward to seeing that bow, and others, at the Gathering in Sisters. Fantastic!!! :)
-
John, you did a nice job getting work out of the full length of the bow. They only thing I would do differently would be to make the upper limb bend a bit more than the lower limb (i.e. positive tiller). Could be the camera angle, but it looks like you have it the other way around.
-
great job john. if you want more reflex try inducing it when you sinew. great job on the tiller. so how does she shoot?? looking forward to seeing it in may.
-
o.k. thank gordon and thanks dave...john
