My good friend Poul Kristensen from Denmark who is an excellent black smith made this ax. It is a replica of the Mammen ax, an ax from Viking times more than a thousand years old. The white lines and dots are silver laid into the steel.

Now that is cool!

That's incredible. You gotta respect the patience, determination, and skill that it would take to make a work of art like that. The man obviously knows his stuff!!

I never thought an ax could be a work of art, but that one sure is. Beautiful.

Stunning piece of metalwork! His title is well earned and deserved...more pics of his work or that Camp setup would be great! I really like the appearance & flexibility of that canvas shelter with the adjusting boards, great idea.

Wow that ax is beautiful. And i am very impressed with the camp. As someone just starting out a viking reenactment persona I would love to see more pictures and historic info on the things that went into making up that camp. ....oh and by the way did i mention wow that ax is beautiful.

Sorry, but I do not have other pics of the camp. If you look closely I think you will find that the woodwork is pretty straight forward to make. Inside the tent you must have two ropes that goes diagonaly from tops to bottom to stiffen up the structure. The iron thing that is used to hang pots from over the fire is a replica from the Oseberg Viking ship. Markus.
