Thought yall might get a kick out of this.
Knapped from a killer piece of Cobden chert from IN.
-
That is beautiful...

WOW! This is the first image that popped into my head when I saw that blade:
-
Beautiful pattern that you held with the rock's layering. Where did this pattern originate? They look much bigger - are they usually arrowheads or spearpoints?
-
The rings come from how the chert was formed, think of a jaw breaker.
This turkey tail is 5 inches, this is a average size for the point type.
They were not spears or arrow heads. They are almost always found in graves and killed by killed i mean broke with 1 clean strike. I think that were warn around the neck with a leather thong as a form a functional jewelry. I think when a person of this culture died then they would kill the blade and toss it in the grave with them as part of a ceremony.

I'm taking a brake from working on its big brother, not a turkey tail but a huge cobden dove. I have been at it for 2 hours. I am very nervous with this one and taking the time to set up and isolate each platform.
Well I'm going back to it.
