Title: need advise

i received some abowyer trade points in a trade there brand new  , my question is  what is the best way to sharpen these  my  lansky  knife sharpening stones don't seem to work very well  any advise would be great.

i used an accu-sharp for my trade points.i want to say mine aren't abowyer.i got mine from rudder bows.hope this helps,steve

You can use a bench grinder to rough in the bevels.  Just be doggone sure to dip them in water every few seconds to keep the material cool or you will mess up the temper of the steel.  Once you have most of the bevel done on the grinding wheel your Lansky should do better. 

I use the Gatco sharpener on my broadheads, similar to the Lansky, but with wider stones for more contact.  Something nice about repeating the exact same angle on every stone stroke, ya know?

I like to use a small flat file for sharpening trade points, assuming they've already got a bevel on them.
