Title: Close Call Tornado
Post by: hillbilly61 on April 28, 2011, 09:25:11 am
I'm sure y'all have seen the tornado outbreak. Well last night, our church and community got hit :'( We have 5 people that are reported dead :'( We headed to a friend that has a brick house. As we got their and got out of the truck, the tornado crossed the road right behind us. Literally. I'm talking, maybe 100 yrds. After things calmed down, we left to go home to see if we had any damage. Nonthing but alot of limbs. The tornado went about a mile south and hit a store and our church ( we live in the country) then went on to the next community. If y'all don't mind please lift up a prayer for the folks effected

Hatch, funny , but that was my first thought when I saw it this morning..." I'll get me some bow staves out of that" , but it was a crooked knotty maple. I cut one limb about 3' diameter 5' long, but after looking at it I think I was just desperate....lol. I did cut out some interesting pieces that I'm going to dry and then make some rustic lamps out of later. :)

Thanks for all the prayer and concerns. Found out we had a friends house blown away. All that was left wasw the bathroom they were taking cover in. Another was the hallway they were hidding in. PTL they were all ok. A friend on my daughters.lived in a moble home. It was rolled they say 5 times while in it. One was shook up. The other has a broken ankle and cuts with stitches. The mom has a broken back and was in surgerry. Keep the prayers comming please

Gut wrenching Mark. Just got back home this morning, and we were spared any damage. A few trees down here and there, but otherwise the community here seems unscathed. We will be praying for all that have lost loved ones, and have been injured by these devastating storms, that have been tearing up the south.

that's the way it looks around my hometown of Fultondale too.  Hueytown, Pleasant Grove, Pratt City, and Tuscaloosa all got it pretty bad too.

Driving to The Classic, we just missed being hit by one.  We saw major damage, recently overturned tractor trailers tossed around like toys, huge limbs everywhere on I-75.  Very scary to see on the Interstate at 3 in the morning.  So sorry to read the news, we are praying for those affected.
