Title: DLH flint
Post by: iowabow on May 03, 2011, 07:22:02 pm
DLH FLINT from ky not sure of the name.  Nice stuff good to work.  I was able to knock many flakes for points from one stone and very little waste.  I like the dark green color and it is easy to set up platforms and run thinning flakes. Your stone is very predicable.   As a beginner I can say it is a good rock to learn on. It is nice to try different types of flint from around the country.

Tim, I imagine that's some of that green rock I got from him. What I got was tough as nails but nice rock. You know me...I don't like the kind that's easy to break (obsidian) ::)
Looks like you done it justice Iowabow. I managed to make one for Danial and one for myself over the weekend and hope to get my hands on more of it. Green is my favorite color ;D

Well we know Sawfilers' work comes complete with drool everytime,
But I just want to chime in and say it has been a treat watching Iowabow go from
0 - 60 in just one long winter.
I'd say you're a natural, IB, and I can't wait to see what you're doing this time
next year. ;)

Looks darker green in person.  Kinda like military OD green.  It feels "velvety" but is VERY hard.  Sweet points!  8)

I'll post some points when I get a chance with finals week coming up and need batteries too. I have noticed on the points jackcrafty made me they have blue spots in them and one is almost completely blue may just be me though.
