I got a message this morning from Darcy (DEllis) to watch out for package. When I came home from lunch I had a notice in the mailbox that there was a parcel to pickup. I was expecting a few things to be coming so I wasn't sure what it was. When I went to pick it up, I saw the girl bring out a long tube, and I'm sure my eyes got really big. The first words out of her mouth were "It was like this when we got it". That's when I got a bit scared. This is what condition the tube was in:

So I nervously drove the 3 minute drive home and rushed in to inspect it. To my relief, everything was intact, without a scratch! After admiring Darcy's work for several minutes, I couldn't fight the urge to go out to the backyard and string her up. This is the first hickory bow I've shot, and I was pleasantly surprised with it's performance. I put about 70 arrows through it before taking a break for a photo-op while my girlfriend was still home. He also made a nice fleece sleeve and string keeper for it.
Thanks so much Darcy, this thing's beautiful, my pictures don't begin to do it justice. I love it!!
Check it out!

Very nice. You are lucky the bow wasn't broke by the looks of that package.
-
WOOO thats beautiful!
-
nothing like a good piece of hickory...
Glad it wasn't broken. That would have been horrible after all the hard work Darcy put into that.
-
Yikes, that first picture had me sweating :o
Glad it was still intact. PVC pipe shipping tubes from now on........Canada post must have been in a hurry and just kicked it out of the truck on the way by the post office :-\
I hope it gives you many years of service. I shot it a lot, but not off that side of the bow, so I hope I didn't break it in backwards for ya ;D
Darcy :)

I'm really lovin this bow Darcy. I've been using it so much in the back yard, my accuracy is actually improving! This is my tightest group yet, shot on one knee from about 15 yards. For me, groups like this are few and far between, so I just had to brag ;)

thanks Jon,
Sorry I didn't answer you sooner, been having some computer trouble, might have to use primitive computer tech skills on it soon (picture a crazy sawed off canadian with a large rock and malicious grin >:D)
I used laminated leather to fill in the grip on the back and tapered it to blend into the limbs about 2 inches either side of the handle. Then wool yarn (this is multi colored sock yarn) wraped the approximately 8 inches to cover the leather, then elk leather with a rolled top and bottom over that for the grip.
Glad to see you shooting it well Cam :) I guess I didn't teach it any bad manners shooting it right handed ;D
