The eastern woodland tribes made wonderful war clubs that simulated a rifle stock. I tried my hand at one with a board of Water tupelo that I came upon. The wood sands down to an ultra smooth finish. I applied three coats of cherry minwax stain. Then coated it with Tru oil a few times. The tacks were pre-drilled a diameter smaller than the shaft. Tupleo was too hard to allow a tack to be hammered in without it. Eventually, I want to place a knife blade near the crook just like the natives did it. Metal craft is not my thing so I will be trading or being creative.
I was well pleased with the result.
The last shot is the one suitors for my daughter might see. >:D
