My grandsons dad was doing some work at somebodies house the other day and part of the job was getting rid of all this rock. It turned out to be some really nice coral and they loaded it all for me and said give them a call and have some beer and they wil come unload it, too.You can't beat that kind of deal. I'm guessing there is about 600# all total.

wanna trade some? :) Nice haul Eddie. :)

Very cool rock Eddie some guys have all the luck.Ron
-
That's a lot of coral. Some people have all the luck.
-
Dang that's sweet!
That coral is some intriguing stuff. Wish sometimes I lived a little closer to some of it, but I'll keep the small skeeters we have in MO as opposed to the big ones down there!

Hey Mark I usually carry a .22 with shot cartridges to take cari of the skeeters.

i'll trade ya lb of charcoal for a lb of cooked coral ;D
-
Looks like some tough stuff there Eddie.
-
Pretty much all raw coral is tough as nails, or ryolite. :D And not all of this is good. But it has some nice polyps and I'll still get quite a few spalls off this once I go beating on it when my finger heals better. Let me see how much of it is good and then I'll start spreading the wealth. ;) Pretty much the deal was I had to take it all, good or bad.
-
HOLY $#iT Eddie looks heavy!...LOL hey send me that big one...um yeah after u spall and cook it YEAH!...just kidding although I did make a nice blade out of that stuff u sent the last time! Awesome stuff! Oh nice haul!

I think we need a drooling smiley, it would be perfect for this thread.
-
You lucky dog ;D. I like the part about spreading the wealth, hmm ::).
-
That's kind of a "good luck-bad luck" to get all that coral and then have an injured hand preventing you from working it. It would make me so mad I would just have to give it to someone to get even. I guess I could be that someone and help you out.
I can't believe I lived in Broward County for four years and never new about coral for knapping... >:D
-
wussy , raw coral knaps just fine. ;D
nice haul. hopefully i get down there this year, my grandmother has coral as ornamental rock all over her yard and she doesnt go outside much, so its going home with me!
-
nclonghunter, I know what you mean about the hand, sucks and have some new knapping tools coming in the mail. I did go out and beat on some rock this afternoon, I couldn't stand it. :D I don't know what would suck wind more; a hurt hand and good rock, or living in Broward county for any length of time.
Jamie, tell me where Granny lives and I'll see if the rocks any good before you make that long trip down. ;)
-
looks like I need to make a road trip and give ya a hand, you being all gimped up and all ;D
Bone pile
-
Roger, come on up. I need to do a lot of spalling and cooking. ;D
-
very nice haul, about time you get a load without busting your back for it
-
Thanks, Jeff. I've got my doubts about a lot of it being good for points. But some of it has some nice polyps.
-
I loked the coral u sent me that time it was challenging but absolutley awesome! Nothing beats being able to get stone native to your area...only problem was Im up here knapping out northern Iroquios tribe styled points with coral...thats taboo!
