I have a "Challenging" Stave but, hey just look at this grain and weep.

There are somne pretty black growth rings, I just hope they are sound and some BIG fat knots (yummy)
Dunno what sort of weight I'll get out of it, or if it will survive, it's just a labour of love this one and a certain keeper.

Good luck Del.  looks more suited to knife handles or a gun stock. but it will make a gorgeous bow if it holds. but hey it's yew and you know as well as anybody how sturdy it can be with grain violations and cutting through knots.  keep us posted even if it blows.

Cheers Guys, yeah, it looks more like burr Walnut, I'm keepin' her wide and long and I've got my fingers crossed. There's one knot I've plugged but most I've just dug out nice and deep and worked around. The wood was a bit I almost didn't bother with, it was in a load I got from a tree surgeon, one face of it had been rubbing against another branch and had virtually no sapwood. Maybe that's what slowed the growth down, I'm just hoping some of the really dark rings are still sound.

I promise I post it even if she blows on me.
