Title: new bowyer question

i used an old bow sitting in the corner to practice my first attempt at backing. i used tightbond3, however i noticed after the bow was backed it took massive set, even though the bow had next-to-no set befor backing. does anyone have experience with TB3 and backing? could the glue be partialy to blame?

Did you back it with only glue?  How long did you let it dry before bending it?  Maybe the moisture from the glue is to blame.
