You know I hate to say this! but that kingfisher bow is a good deal,,,you can beat it up leave it strung and not worry at all and you can find them cheap at sportsmans guide and it's a good loaner bow if I didn't have other bows I'd hunt deer w\ it Jeff

i used an old bear whitetail hunter recurve when i first started years ago.it was a 45/50# 52" and worked like a charm.you should be able to find a bear made in the seventies for a hundred or less.i now use a 55" deer rawhide backed osage selfbow.it is also a 50#.i've got one of those strap on spool mounts from three rivers.you can put the reel on any bow you have with it.hope this helps, steve

sorry,my bow was a bear black panther hunter.not a whitetail

Sage TD Recurve from 3R? From what ive heard on reviews its pretty good, comes in plenty 'o' weights too,
Just my 2 pennies

Young Bowyer, just build you one out of osage. I've been using the same 60# flatbow for 10 or more years. I would'nt use anything but a selfbow to hunt fish. JMHO ,God Bless

Ah... my fishing bow is an old reliable Bear takedown recurve with white glass limbs... She only pulls 35# but she's whacked and stacked many unhappy fish... >:D

I have a pse kingfisher. It is heavy and not trendy or cool, but it is tough, cheap, accurate, and weatherproof. The package deal includes everything you need to get started bowfishing. I like mine. I do my hunting with a pecan self bow which I built myself. It is about a third the weight of the kingfisher! For a bow to be tossed around in a canoe and subjected to the elements again and again, I think the PSE is sensible choice. The take down design makes it a great spare bow to take along on hunting trips. I did spray paint the bow with some Walmart flat green camo paint to cover up that silly factory camo job.... Added some brush buttons and felt strips to try and quiet it down some.... basically it is still a loud, heavy tank of a bow, but it shoots straight and is very durable. For a hundred bucks you can't go wrong.
