Title: Could Have Been Bad (Info Added)
Post by: hillbilly61 on July 19, 2011, 09:45:12 pm
This is what happens when you grab on of your arrows and shoot it before wrapping the nock end. Dumb misstake on my part. It was in with the others. Why I don't know. It's a cane arrow by the way. Self nock using the node.

Good thing no more damage  than the arrow. Could have been detrimental to you and your bow.
George, it is repairable with a little super glue and that nock wrap. Maybe a wrap on the forward end of the fletching too.

It split over half way down. It was as close to a dry fire as I ever want to get :embarassed:

I'd flare the split and hang it on the wall like a "Y arrow."

I like the top feather, what kind is it?  Glad no one is hurt.  What doesn't kill you makes you stronger or smarter or hopfully more careful next time. :-\

bowtarist.....It's a turkey primary that I kool-aid dyed. Did some more today in red orange and purple.

I always wrap mine. Well almost always ::) I sinew wrap and just forgot this one. I like the idea of hanging it. Maybe with another arrow robin hooding it. That way I can say I did that 8) Naaa could'nt do that ;)

I did get lucky. The good Lord was looking out for me ;)

Bowtarist, it may make you tougher and stronger, but also lighter in the wallet. I spent four nights in the hospital and 7 grand after insurance paid for the Plastic Surgeon  and two hours of surgery to get all the parts out of my hand. I have a lot of nicked, cracked, arrows and broken bows holding up beans and tomato plants in the garden ;D

The bow looks like toast, too. :'(

Hope we all get a little smarter from this posting.  Tonite I'm going to check all my arrows at home to see how well they are all wrapped.  I have a particular dozen that seems to want to shed the sinew wrapping on the nocks.  I might just have to spend tomorrow morning scraping off the old sinew and re-wrapping with extra care on the glue.

Take that arrow, and split the two sides, put a small plug in the bottom of the  main split, and wrap it below and up to the plug, and then put a plug in the split just below the nock, tie the nock end, and use it to raise the intelligence quotient of an unrully child,  ::) or as a rug beater. or a paint stirer, or a combination thereof.  ;) ;D
Man, I am glad that you are ok.  Too bad about the bow, I too, hope it can be fixed.  But like Mullet said, it could have been a lot worse, and expensive, not to mention the fact that it could have had long lasting, or permanent damage to various parts of yourself, and or others.  ;) :P

"use it to raise the intelligence quotient of an unruly child,   or as a rug beater. or a paint stirrer, or a combination thereof"

My youngest is off to college this fall so that rules that one out. :(
My wife would kill me if I tore the carpet out. No way is that one happening ;D
Now the paint stirrer can happen, no no no. That intales work So we have to rule that one out ;D
