My friend Laza gave me this problematic stave in the spring and wanted to get some hunting bow from it. Yesterday I had few hours free and finally made it. This time I tried to test my abilities: 4,5 hours from stave to finished tiller and about hour for sanding and painting, oiling, etc. This bow is 74"ntn, 30 x 30 mm in the handle, under 1/2 at nocks. Brace height is 5 1/2", 80# at 30". Stave had some deflex in the lower limb and some ugly kink just under the handle (it is visible on brace, in my hand) and got just under 1" of set. Tiller could be better this time but stave was damaged by chainsaw so I didn't had enough place for accomodation. Not heat treated. Crude...

Every bow you post is always well tillered. Wanted to try something like that myself with a sapling for a long time. thanks for the pics

Excellent bow again Druid. you definately have a knack for making an ugly stick beautiful. love the full draw(as always).
-
Druid, you are the master of the character stave! I love all of your bows. What kind of nocks do you have on that bow? Can we see a close-up photo?

Pretty cool, but you've still got a way to go to beat my 1 hour bow >:D http://www.primitivearcher.com/smf/index.php/topic,16984.msg234202.html#msg234202 (http://www.primitivearcher.com/smf/index.php/topic,16984.msg234202.html#msg234202)

(To be fair my 1hour bow was only 40# :()

Very generous of you to call that stick a stave. I am amazed that you were able to make such a solid looking and heavy draw weight bow from such a piece. Well done!

Hi Druid, looks like a simple stick, and I'm surprised your work 80 # wooow, great job, I love bows knots are very primitive, as I like.
thanks for showing

Now when I close my eyes and think primitive, I see your bow. Simple and beautiful, thanks for posting it.

Thank you people all, I am trying to do my best.
Shaun, maybe the stick is better word for this, english is not my born language so I often make grammatic mistakes, sorry for that.
Del...man you are unbeatable!!! No way I can make bow in less than these few hours... Congratulations for this one-hour-bow!!!
Randman I will make some close up photos of nocks, thats bl overlay with double nock grooves.

Another home run druid! It appears that u make these beautiful bows in less time than it takes me to split out a stave.it is an honor to see your work :)
-
Thank you soy, I am glad you like it. I got 90% of my staves charactered and just about 10% straight, they are a little boring to me. :D

That is one nice looking crude bow, that has got my vote.

Fantastic!
