Title: spining footed shaft.

doyou spine the boo before or after you foot them, does footing change spine.

Spine before then you know you are not wasting the effort on a too weak or too heavy shaft.

The footing will alter the dynamic spine, the footed area will not have the same mass as the equivalent length of bamboo.


Remember static spine puts you in the ballpark, you have to shoot the arrow (as a minimum at the distances you intend to use the arrows) to see if it suits you and your bow.

Craig nailed it. Spine your arrow and consider the foreshaft as a point. AMO spine is calculated on a 28" arrow suspended between 26" uprights with a 2# weight uhung from the center. The deflection will determine the actual spine. This calculation is for a 28" arropw with a 125gr point. For every inch over or under subtract/add 5# of spine weight. Any deviation in point weight will change the effective spine weight too. You will have to consider your foreshaft with your point weight.
