Title: Some character for my grandson....
Post by: lowell on September 02, 2011, 10:17:19 pm
or my grand-daughter!! ;D

Saw this stave that had a knot in it and wanted to do something with it.  It didn't have much wood to work with and was never going to make a higher poundage bow that I could hunt with but still wanted to try working with the knot hole!!

Got it worked down and still had to add some leather to the handle to make a shape!!

I just hope he doesn't think the little "window" is not some type of sight!!LOL

It is about 12#@15" ...a little lighter than the one he has been shooting but I think it may be better for him!

Very nice. You may want to lower the brace height a bit. Looks high but could be an optical illusion. Enjoy your time with your grandson. Jawge

George,

The brace is 5 1/4" which seems high for a small bow.....I have a hard time making the length of string I want.

This is the 4th one I made last night.  Maybe I'll try again or maybe I can untwist this one a little??

Thanks all...

 And Del,
it was at least tricky for me :-\....I finally decided I better quit or the whole bow would be on the floor in the form of shavings and sawdust!! :D

In the words of a wise man...."You got to know when the haircut's done"

Love that hole!  It even looks like that hole is bending.  Slick!

Nice little bow, especially for the grandchild.  And yes, they're tougher to tiller than adult bows!

Sweet bow. I have just started getting kids hooked on archery, it's got to be better than a PS3!
