Title: After backing
Post by: frankg on September 03, 2011, 11:53:06 pm
After putting an 1/8" backing to beef up the limb with knot in it should I now trim some off belly to compensate for the hickory backing I put on ? Seems real stiff !

Yeah you're definitely going to have to reduce it a little. I saw the pics on your other thread and it looks real nice. Hope it turns out good!
Dang Frank your shop looks just like mine ;) ;D

Thanks randman! Guess tomorrow the hungry beaver gets let loose again to gnaw some from the belly  ;D

Yea , shop stays in a state of turmoil till weather turns sour then gets cleaned up , stuff put away until I get inspired again  ;)

Then on to another cycle of turmoil !

You did back the whole bow right, not just one limb? A solid 1/8" hickork backing will almost double your draw weight at times.
