when I first saw the top pic I thought that was a huge gash as the exit wound but now see it's the arrow sticking out.

congrats !!
and thanks for taking the time to post those pics.

Congrats on your elk.  I'm curious did that placement catch the lungs?  I know that is the exit side showing so I can't see how it went in.

I called billy as soon as I got cell service and left him a message, he left me a message and thought I was kidding, until he checked his computer. he is trying to get back to Oregon, but has had a lot going on since his dad passed away.

I suppose that I shouldn't be concerned about using a stone point on whitetail....

Nicely done!

Nice!  After Kirby showed me the pics of his Elk I knew one of us bowyer gathering folks would knock down an elk very soon.  Proud of you.  I can't wait to hear the story and see more pics in May.

Great harvest!  What is draw weight of your bow and the weight of your arrow?  Do you know the bow's fps speed?  I'm trying to get info for arrow building for next season.  Can't start too early you know.  :)

I wondered the same thing. What is the draw weight of the bow? Weight of arrows, etc?

thanks for all the kind words. the bow is 65# yew selfbow, syringa arrow and dacite tip. the arrow weighed 650 grains. dont know the fps, but the bow seems to shoot really fast. the shot was 10 yards and recovery was less than 80 yards downhill. she died on the run. caught the top of both lungs and the artery. really good tablefare...
