I have been lurking around on this site for some years now and asking your advice picking your brains for help and thought its about time I finally let you see what your advice has helped me with. This is one of many bows I have built since 2005 and is one of my favorites. It is a BBI pyramid D bow, 55lbs at 27", 61" NTN, 1 3/16" at handle tapering down to just under 3/8" at nocks. No fancy finish on this one, just a yearly hunter here in the California humidity and she shoots really nice with my 618 gr arrows. Hits hard and where you point no problem. Took her out hunting today behind my house and belly crawled within 40 yds of some really nice CA mule deer bucks looking for does. The rut is on here and if it weren't for all the growth we have with the passing rains I might have had a shot at some of them. After a 3 hour stalk and crawl and another 2 hour repeat I crawled out of there so as not to disturb them and will try again before first light tomorrow. Any pointers on the bow will be greatly appreciated. Thank every one of you who have spent your time answering my questions and helping me to make some pretty nice hunting bows.

I made a few similar to yours but with out the glue up reflex and with other backings. They shoot very well. Gotta try the bamboo.

Thanks for the compliments guys, it really is a nice shooter. Does anyone else have issues with this length in heavy growth areas to hunt? Our California deer are very skittish probably because of the over abundance of mountain lion but it seems every time I move to a shooting position I have to do so every so carefully because of the noise of plantlife hitting the bow or string. Parnell you are going to love the bamboo when you do use it. It is great stuff to add to a bow when you can already make one shoot well without it.
