Any of you TX guys have some extra Cholla laying around? If so, what would you need for it?
-
Jonathan, I have a few pieces I can spare. Do you want them for knife handles?
-
I have a little too, but mine is not from Texas. ::)
-
Oh well, mine are from TX. Do they grow in Utah?
-
Sounds good, guys. I'll shoot ya'll a PM. They don't necessarily have to be from TX, I just didn't know where else they grew.
-
Cholla grows all over the South West Sonoran, Mojave and Chihuahuan deserts. Colorado, Texas, Utah, Arizona, Nevada, New Mexico, and California all have it. We have teddy bear cholla which grows to 5-9 feet tall. Dont be fooled though, teddy bear doesn't mean it is soft and cuddly. >:D

Can yall post a pic of something made with cholla wood?

yeah, i'd like to get a little of that for handles as well, Bub
-
I'd like to have the knife, bet it's out of my price range.
-
If you have a Hobby Lobby nearby, they have some the right size for knife handles and they are inexpensive!
-
Awesome wolf watcher, I'll have to check that out!
-
Thanks Gus. I asked when I was down south this weekend, but the guy did not know what I was talking about.
The masculine word chollo in Spanish means "thug" and a cholla would be a female thug.
Then you have chullo which is a very handsome male... So I guess that is why the fellow gave me an awkward look..
