Here is my latest. She is a 58" NTN sinew/Carp skin backed Juniper bow. She is right at 60 lbs. @ my 25" draw and has goat horn tips. This was the top side of a large Juniper limb with two light coarses of sinew and then the Carp skins. Though I have done many different types of fish skins. This was the first with Carp. I am very impressed with it and love the pattern. The skin was fairly thick so I sanded it down on the belt sander to the feel of snake skin. I wanted the sinew for the benefits, and the skins for decoration without adding to much mass. There are 28 small pin knots in total With this one I am very pleased. ;D

-
That bow is beautiful. Nice work on that one!
-
As usual great crastmanship and detail, those skins do look nice,I did some bowfishing and those carp sure are ugly when sittin in the muddy water amazing they can look that good on a bows back!Always enjoy seeing your work-Hammertime
-
I would be pleased as well that is a thing o beauty :o
-
What an amazing bow! The carp skins look great on it. Did you reflex the bow any while building it? It looks straight as an arrow.
-
Thank you adb.
Thank you mspink
Thank you Hammertime.
Thank you Soy.
Clint Thank you, It was stove pipe straight to begin with so I left it alone thinking the sinew would pull into more reflex. It did pull about an inch but that was lost in tillering
Here are a few more pics

Wonderful bow! Design, tiller finish all top shelf. Tipi as background for full draw is a great touch. I believe I could pick out a bow you made from a pile - maybe even with my eyes closed. Thanks for sharing.
-
Keenan, I sure hope you're keeping that one for yourself! I know I'd have a hard time parting with it.
Oh ya, I vaguely remember you promising us a how-to on that wrap you do that looks so slick ;) Your finishing details are perfect, as usual.
-
Keenan,
Nice job. Really cool.
-
Outstanding craftmanship Keenan. Skins, tips, finish work and tiller all gorgeous.
-
Shaun, Thank you for such a wonderful compliment.
Thank you Kpete
Cam, thank you. You are so right about the promise. I better get off my tail and get that done!
Eric, Thank you . That means very much to me
-
A real beauty! Those carp skins really set off your craftmanship...and that tiller is to die for!!! 8)
-
Pat, Thank you my friend. I will have something else to show soon as well. ;)
-
Keenan that is one sharp looking bow. The horn nicks, finish, skins, handle and tiller are all top notch.. Now I understand why Patrick likes juniper so much.
Cipriano
-
This is one purrrrty bow. Heck all of your bows are fantastic. You can see the craftmanship in the attention to detail, from the finish to the tips. I am in awe of your work
-
Wow, that is beautiful. Great bow!
George
-
Beautiful bow as usual. I'm sure it shoots as good as it looks. Spectacular!!
-
wow! beautiful bow!!!!
-
Excellent bow and flawless finish. Mastercraft.
-
Lovely!. I never considered Juniper. Is it similar to Yew?
-
Another masterpiece. Expected no less.
Lane
-
WOW Keenan that is just AWSOME! Love the carp skin overlays are awsome and the tiller is perfect as usual
VERY NICE!
Josh
-
A perfect marriage of form and function - you are an accomplished artist my friend.
-
Ditto! What more can I say.
Dave
-
What a wonderful bow!!
There is nothing I don't like about it.... georgous Skins,,, again WOW!!!
Quote ... "With this one I am very pleased." You should be :)
-
This brings about a question in ny head...how does one go from carp to bow backing?im going to shoot me some carp and give it a whirl, just need to know how ???
-
Perfect bend..another keenan master piece in all facets :D....I like how it maintained heartwood in one limb and it faded out and islanded out in the fade area in the other limb. I assume you made the limb with all heartwood your bottom limb? As that would be the end closest to the trunk? Great job...can't wait to see the next one you post ;)
-
Beautiful Keenan in all aspects. :) :) I would expect no less. :) :)
Pappy
-
Love those skins! Great bow Keenan.
-
Keenan, that is one pretty bow. Nice attention to detail. The color of the Juniper seems to go perfect with the carp skins. Then the bit of contrast by your goat horn and handle grip, really set it off nicely. Of course, the tiller goes without mention. I sure like the bendy handle style. There's something about the full draw profile that's magical to me.
-
Wow! That is one pretty looking bow, Keenan and you nailed the tiller. I've been after some carp skins since I saw the one that Pappy made, now I know I really want some.
-
oh man this is one great looking bow
-
Yup, that's one of Keenan's bows. ;) ;D
-
Nice looking bow Keenan is that the one you were gonna mail to me?
-
Gorgeous work yet again, Keenan.
-
Cipriano, Thank you I am a big fan of Juniper as well. Dealling with all the pin knots can be a pain but love the smell and the way it works with sinew.
Lemos Thank you
George, thank you
Xin, thanks again
Cat napper, Thank you.
Prarrie, Thank you, Juniper is in the Cedar family. There are several different types of juniper and some will work well while others are like balsa wood. Western and Mountain will work well
Lane, thank you
Josh, Thank you, You will have to come over the mountain this spring and see it in person. ;)
Gordon, Thank you. That means allot and warms my heart.
Dave, Thank you as well
Coaster, Thank you
Soy, Same as other fish skins, Just flesh and dry them. I will try to do a build along on the next fish skins that I do These came from TurtleCreek.
Blackhawk, Thank you. Yes the bottom limb is the one with more heart wood. It is naturally strong because of more heart and yes, It is the base of the branch closest to the tree trunk. The heart wood is always closer to the top side of a branch and the wood has grown in constant tension so the rings are tighter and stronger on the top of the branch.
Pappy, Thank you, Your bow helped inspire this one.
Pearl Thank you
Dazv, Thank you
Steve, Thank you
Ronnie, Thank you, that cracked me up, I may have to shoot her in for a while, ;D
Jonathan, thank you
-
Interesting combination of materials--I knew carp had to be good for something. Beautiful bow!

Jon
-
not to bad for an old guy.....LOL...i have to say with the rest that is a great looking bow...the skins are great...now you will have to find some place to go shoot some carps for some skins...is the skins all one fish...if so that was a good size carp...i do have one question...one limb looks like it has hardly any heart wood...was there any differants in the limbs when tillering...john
-
Absolutely incredible craftsmanship. Your bows aren't just bows, they are works of art!!! ;)
Jon
-
Another beautiful remade tree from the hands of a master. You are certaintly leaving traditional archery a fine legacy.
God bless Cody
-
Boy that is a beauty.
-
not to bad for an old guy.
And just what's wrong with being an old guy..... >:D
-
Keenan- carpin' is kinda slow this time of year up here. I should have a ton more this spring when the bigger ones are in the shallows. I will set some aside for ya.
-
great bow realy beauty
-
Yes Sir!
That is One Fine Looking Bow!
Thanks!
-gus
-
Thank you everyone for such nice compliments . I'm glad you like it.
John, The reason one limb is less heart wood is because of the branch taper. I think it's actually easier to tiller because it helps that limb be slightly softer for the upper limb. To get your positive tiller to the bottom limb.
Cody, That is very humbling. Thank you.
Turtle, I would love to trade you for some more of those skins when you get them, Thank you.
-
SWEETTTT
-
That is one BEAUTIFUL bow if iv ever seen one!!!
-
Amazing as always! Good Job Keenan.

Thank you JBL
Thank you BakhSA
-
another great bow, love the skins. If you are a betting man, then I will bet you wont stick with this one for hunting season, you will just continue the quest for the perfect bow. ;D I do believe you are there already, except it needs to be a little longer and draw 28", which is too long for you and you should just give it to me 8)
-
Thanks Dave, You know me better then I do sometimes ::) ::) However If I made it longer then it would be to long to be a "perfect bow" >:D
-
Superb! It's nice to re reminded just how much you still have to learn. :)
-
Man o man o man! I sure love this bow and the skins are awesome. I need to go kill some carp.
-
Thank you PAHunter
Thank you, Almost
And thank you to all who supported this bow in the BOY voting!
-
A "buffalo backed BOM" has a ring to it
-
I missed this one first time around. Absolutely beautiful bow. Great work Keenan. God Bless
-
Awesome looking bow. I've been wanting to try a carp backed bow myself after seeing some pictures of others. I run a tilapia hatchery and we have some grass carp in the ponds so I have a order for some when the workers find a big one for me. Tilapia skins would be nice but you'd have to stitch them together :P
-
I love how you do those tips. I consider trying it but feel like I'm stealing. They don't pop off or are then pinned on?
Now I want some juniper.
