Title: Making your own knapping tools
Post by: TurtleCreek on December 11, 2011, 02:58:52 pm
I have never knapped before, but would like to start and make my own tools for it.  I have all kinds of deer/elk antler and leg bones.  I would appreciate any tips/info on what material would be best for each type of tool. Any pics of your own home made tools would be great.  Also, which tools of the trade would you suggest I start with?

I also noticed while hiking around in the woods an abundance of thick old brown glass bottles.  Would the bottoms of these be good to get some knapping practice on?
