Title: Tenn/Fl Hybrid
Post by: mullet on December 18, 2011, 02:06:32 pm
I started this Osage bow at Pappy's during Spring Gobbler season last year and then I got it shooting while deer hunting again at Pappy's in November. I brought it home to Florida and put the tips and Cottonmouth Water Moccasin skin on. I shot this big booger during Archery season last year. I love the pattern this snake has.
The bow came in at 48# at 28" and is 64" nock to nock. There was a little bend heated into it and it ended up with about an inch after shooting it in. This piece of Osage was cut in 1995. I was supprised at how fast and flat shooting it was considering I'm used to shooting a heavier weight bow.

That is a beautiful bow for sure. After working with Osage now for several years I am beginning to believe the longer the stave has time to season the better they are. Dean

Thanks Ronnie and Dean. I have to agree with you Dean about seasoned wood, there seems to be very few suprises.

Nice one Eddie.  Those skins look good on there.  I like the narrow handle too.  Those lighter bows are great for shooting all day, but still pack enough punch to take game.

That's a real nice looking bow, well done. I agree, the skins look awesome.

Could be just the photo but the scales on those skins look huge. I know nothing about that type of snake but couldn't help notice. Love to get my hands on a few.

Again, very nice bow and thanks for posting.

Thank you everyone for the compliments. Cam this bow is very comfortable to shoot, I might have to think about those 60# ers I've been hunting with. :-\

GMC this snake was 47" and this skin on the bow is split down the middle, it was plenty wide.

That turned out great man! You know Im a sucker for a cottonmouth, growin up in AR Ive had more than a few run ins with em. I think the back of a bow is about the best place to see one!  ;)  You done well  :) :)

Great looking bow and the skins do look really nice!  Be curious to give that bow a shot at that weight.

Thanks, John, Jim, Will, Pappy, and Steve.

Will, the morning I got that snake I ended up killing three mocassins in less than a half hour, two up real close and uncomfortable. I didn't have my Snake boots on that morning and everywhere I looked I was seeing snakes and little frogs jumping.

That is a great looking bow Eddie! I've always thought that moccasins were the nastyest little snakes around. You certainly made that one look good..

Charlie, thanks and yea that's the one you shot before it was dressed up. ;D

swamp yeti you never know I don't seem to hang onto one for very long before I buy or make as new one. :-\

Thanks Paul, I think what makes them nasty is you never see them untill the last minute and when they do they have that white mouth open ready to pop you.

Fantastic craftsmanship Eddie! Only type of snake that ever chased me-best use of them right there. Need to break it in on some hogs or gobblers!
