Title: Tough battle
Post by: mullet on December 18, 2011, 08:07:50 pm
;D Any of you guys that have been in my shop the last year or so pretty much know the the easiest thing to get to was the refrigerator. Well, I went to war this weekend to get my shop back and I've just about finished. About another day and I will be able to build bows and work on knives indside again.

And like my buddy said that helped me yesterday," if nothing else, it's easier to get to the Fridge, now." ;D

I couldn't believe how many files, and rasps I had, and I guess I bought a new tube cutter everytime I needed one. And the pictures are some of both. I have my staves up top and at least future bows all together in the trash can.

That's the way this was, Ken. The first shot is after I moved everything out of the middle of the floor and got the fire going good.

Eddie when I first read this I felt better to know my shop wasn't the only one that looked bad... I felt good for a bit, but then it hit me.. I should take after Eddie and clean my shop up  :'(

Eddie you are such an inspiration to all of us,,,,,, :o  That is the sign of a USED shop!  Lulyn is amazed how fast I can destroy a clean shop. ::)  It seems that once I lock onto a project I don't want to stop and clean up till it's finished. And when I have several projects going at once ,,,,,,,,,,,,,well you get the picture

I give it a week Eddie! I used to work harder keeping my shop clean than I did working on archery gear in it. Not so much anymore...........the only thing I clean up is bark, shavings and dust off the floor.

Mine's in dire need of a cleaning, too.  I keep saying I'll get it done right after Christmas, but I know I'm going to want to get a couple of knives done before the next guild meeting at the end of Jan.

If anybody would like to help, I'll buy the beer.  ;D

Now I suppose you think I should finish cleaning mine !
I have only been working at it for 3 years now!
I can finally get the doors open and my wife said to pitch the stuff in the fridge ,fridge and all but I think I can save it ! The fridge that is  !
I have hauled out 3 truck loads of wood so far (sold most of it) sold most of the blacksmithing stuff , Gave some stuff to the kids, and hope to be able to work on bows indoors someday soon !
But I doubt it!

Guy, that's what I'm shooting for, to work a little indoors for a change. my usual bowmaking spot is uder the lemon tree with the fan going.

I usually just tie a rope around my waist when I wade in, tie the other end to a post outside-just to make sure I can find my way back out.  No room for a fridge.  Mullet, I do have room for your bandsaw, grinder, staves, etc.

You can't get nothing done in a clean shop...what are you thinking?

Gulp!  Burned wood?!?!?!?!?   Surely it was only pine?
I like to leave lots of things in the middle of my garage to make it harder for theives to make their escape.
I have plans to clean out my garage, but its too hot in the summer and too cold in the winter, sping and fall just don't last long enough.
By the way,.....what's in the fridge that encourages so much traffic across the shop?
Merry Christmas and a Blessed New Year

Kpete, When I was in Canada last year my wife said the Police were chasing a car thief and he made the mistake of running into the shop with the lights out. She said she heard him tripping and wood falling everywhere and then screaming when they sent the dog in after him. ;D Then they also charged him with destoying private property for bleeding all over my floor and wood.

wow,
You live in a tough neighborhood!  Maybe if you were to drive a hog in there he'd turn into sausage after one lap around the shop.
I have spilled blood in my shop and never got charged with anything but being stupid.
