Hi everyone
Here's a short Osage recurve I just finished. It's 58 inches long NTN and 42# @ 26".
It's 1-3/4" inches wide for about 2/3 the length of the limbs and then tapers to 1/2" tips.
The bottom limb has a worm hole all the way through it at one point but it seems to be holding up.
It has a pair of snake skins glued on to dress it up. Shoots around 148FPS through the chrono.
Had my friend draw it so I could take the picture. It shoots right where you point it. ;D

Congratulations, nice bow. I have a Maple bow I had been working on that has quite a few grub holes like that. It is sitting in the corner of my shop now. Glad to see yours made it, I don't think mine will.

looks real good.

Good job on a challenging bow! ;)

Yeap...gotta love the yellow wood!!! It's amazing stuff!
Alan...the skins are off a couple rattlesnakes that I killed here in Alabama last year.

I am always more impressed the shorter the bow. Quite the challenge - this one is a beauty.
I'd love to use it on all the whitetails in my flower gardens. Got your fine bow set up for August Self Bow of the Month.
-
really gorgeous profile on that. Bravo.

great looking bow. would it be possible to see an unstrung side profile?
-
Hey Guys
Thanks for the compliments Pappy. I was pretty happy with the performance.
I didn't think it would shoot as fast as it did. I've been on a roll lately with some good shooters.
I'll try to take a unstrung side profile picture and post it tomorrow Finnish native
I'm at work right now so it will have to wait till then.
Thanks again

Neat bow and a nice job.

donät want to push you, but if no one else is waiting I shure am ;)

That's a great looking bow, the tiller, snake skin, everything together. I love short bows, jbell have some faith , maple is a good bow wood, if the holes aren't too deep, and not near the limb edges you may be ok.

That's my teacher, Thanks for all your help

Looks like speedy little bow and the grub hole is too cool.
-
Very nice and well made bow bow.

donät want to push you, but if no one else is waiting I shure am ;)
Oh...dang! I forgot to make the other picture. I've been swamped this week at work and just plain forgot it!
I hate getting old!!!!! >:( I'll do it this weekend. Sorry
Here is the closest thing to an unstrung profile that I have right now. The bow has less than 1/2" of deflex when first unstrung and will creep back to no deflex after it's been unstrung for about a half hour.
Thanks everyone for the compliments.

Hi Sabanim, I suppose with such short bow, it bend at the handle where u glue on the leather?
do u have any pictures on glue up? i am trying to build a short bow too 50" at 24" and would sure like some tips.
Thanks
-
Hi RT
I built the handle section up by gluing on layers of leather and then shaping it to fit my hand.
I just laced on some soft leather to cover it all up after that. The leather "riser" just bends right along with the handle core when you
draw it back.
Hope that helps
