I finally decided im 100% happy with my naturally reflex\deflexed osage bow. It's from a stave that had a lot of those Red Streaks in it and a natural r\d shape. I've found that I usually get really great bow out of that Red Osage. This is probably the best shooting\handling bow that I have ever made. Super smooth, fast and handshock isn't even in question. It measures in at 66" long and 64# @ 28" draw. It has a dark chocolate deer leather grip and Osage over Brazilian Walnut tip overlays. This is one of those bows that I really want to hang on to, but I know I will be afraid to use it and scratch it up. The finish on it is really beautiful. When I hunt with a bow it gets beat up, unfortunately. This one is just too nice to abuse like I know I will...but man, it shoots great .lol But here she is.- Ryan

That's a nice one. Good job.
-
That is one sweet looking bow.

I've had very good experiences with red streaked osage too. This is a very nice bow Ryan but I have to disagree with you. No bow is too special to use. I'm also very rough on bows but if they can't take it they can just go to someone else! ;)

great bow Ryan.love the tips,Steve
-
Nice Looker...I agree with Pat.....It was born to be used
-
Very nice subtle R/D curve, and natural too! Very nice bow, classic and elegant. Sorry to hear you'll be putting some dings on it. it can take it though, it's yellow!
-
Very nice bow and needs to be used!!
Great profile and you say it was that way naturally, sweet!!
Never thought about it much but I've got a piece of osage with red stripes running end to end... what's the difference in the wood properties?
-
Nice bow Ryan. That orangey/red stuff is primo in my book.
-
Very nice elegant bow.
64# @28" must pack a nice punch.

Thats a nice one. I love when you have a bow that you could say "thats it and I am not messing with it anymore". How did you stitch the handle? I was trying to figure out how you got that pattern?
-
thanks guys.
just a baseball stitch i believe. back and forth
-
That is a very nice bow Ryan. It looks great.I built one a few months ago with those red streaks, and it was also exceptional wood. I hope I can find a few more in that batch of logs. Again, great work. God Bless

You cant leave that poor thing at home whilst you hunt with something else.
Very nice bow.
-
What a bow!!!!!!!!
-
thanks guys. this no doubt will get to hunt someday...it just may not be by me..lol someone else will have to do it
-
Sweet bow Ryan... That natural R/D gives it a awesome profile. If I were you I would go shoot something with it... You only live once...If you scratch it..oh well You can always refinish it

WOW.....beautiful bow.
Great job
-
thanks much guys
coaster500- I dont know what makes the red streaks. I have never actually personally cut down an osage tree, Ive never lived where they grow. but i would imagine it must be something with the soil content... we should figure it out and go spread some fertilizers around the trees we want to cut in the future..lol
-
I'm not sure what causes it either...I've got some of the red in my Osage stash, it was grown in a semi-sandy area on the edge of a corn/bean field.
-
Coaster, I cut other trees right next to the tree that had red stripes in the staves ,that were solid gold.I have no idea why one tree would have them, and another not. There was no sign of insects,or disease. God Bless
-
just super trees! :o
-
What ever the reason, sure made a pretty bow!!
I've got one with the color, might have to see what's up :)
-
Another beauty Ryan, good work.
-
You made that stick into exactly what it was meant to be :) But it won't do anyone any good hanging on a wall. Use it and abuse it!
-
Yes Sir!
That is One Fine Looking Yella Beauty!

My take down has that red and I agree it makes a sweet shooter..really nice bow, I will volunteer to take it for a walk and ill try not to beat it up too bad >:D I will also try to add to the red coloring ;D
-
Very nice shooter Ryan. You nailed the tiller and she looks wicked fast. Great work. Danny

Really like the arc of thisone! Very nice work!!
-
Ryan, I got to thinking about worrying about scratching it up. Thats why I think using clear shellac makes good sense. If you scratch it you can take denatured alcohol and remove the shellac in the effected area do little light sanding if needed and then re shellac and it wil blend in like you can't even tell there was a repair. I say shoot that sucker untill it gives up the ghost. Danny

great looking bow and tiller one of my favorite profiles, and you just got to love that red
Osage, geat job!

Very nice job. Clean lines, nice grip, awesome tips!

Dang, I can't decide which I like more, this or that ERC beauty. You are sure showing us some really nice stuff. The tillers look gentle and the finish work is really fine. These are my kind of bows. Great job.
