Title: Sturgeon
Post by: Keenan on February 18, 2012, 07:39:24 pm
Last weekend I was able to get out with my son Wade and my brother to do a little Sturgeon fishing. We had a real good time caught nineteen total but only one keeper.

What he and   Clint said times 2. Wow!!! That's awesome. Great pics! Congrats on a fine day of fishing. I hope you let all the fishermen to save their skins for you too. Beautiful skins. Have you ever saved a head? How's the meat taste? I'm not even going to show Diego this... He couldn't sleep at night from the thought!

I have had sturgeon exactly once and it was awesome.  It is similar in texture and taste to halibut, but not exactly the same.  It is delish!  Pity they are so slow growing.  Takes a long time to grow one up to breeding size.

When you think about how pre-historic they are you think of them as primitive.  But we primitive archers know that primitive does not always mean poorly made or crude.  There is a reason why this fish has survived thru the ages....they are good at what they do, you don't change a good design for no reason!  Something more engineers need to learn!

Beautiful fish, Keenan!  Thanks for sharing.

Keenan:  I think I can almost recognize the town in the background.  I really enjoyed the fishing on the Columbia and especially in Hell's canyon.  Also had some luck on the Umquah out of Reedsport!  A/Ho Joe
