I just had to post this… around August of 2011 after sneakin and peekin around PA I decided I wanted to try and build a bow. The folks in this bowyer community were there immediately with support and greatly needed advice. I succeeded in a couple of bow projects but I had to work under indoor conditions and as most of you know artificial light is not ideal. A member of this great group Keenan invented a bow building apparatus call a stave master. After a bit of research I decided to give it a try…. Well it is nothing short of a bow building machine… I have had a real problem chasing a ring as my eyes are well not so hot. His Stave Master allows me to work outside in natural light and works great. It also is ergonomically amazing… it adjusts to any position and takes a ton of pressure off my shoulders and back by putting the work right where it needs to be.
Thank Keenan your Stave Master has turned me into a Stave Monster

With this light even I can fallow a ring :)

I replaced the seats in my boat so I had the perfect seat for it!!!

Funny (and timely) that this thread should come up...after reviewing Gordon's current Yew Bow build thread over the past few days I decided to bite the bullet and placed an order for one with Keenan last night. He called me this afternoon to double check all my particulars and I am looking forward to it's arrive sometime soon.
Sounds like I made the right call...

Keenan is bringing one to the Classic for me. I can't wait! I have lower back problems but anywhere near what Keenan has so if it works for him I'm sure it will be perfect for me. I got to try one out ar last years Classic and was amazed at the versatility of this tool. I think I'll get an uncomfortable seat for mine just so I'll have something to complain about. 8)

Man Keenan your truck was heavy last year. Sounds like it will take us awhile to get you unloaded this year for sure. Man that cuts down on the drinking time. When ya'll planning on getting there?

Bear, I'll make up for your loss of drinking time when I get there. Have a cold one waiting for me! ;)
No sacrifice is too great for a friend! ::)

Since I ain't going to the Classic, can you swing thru Rapid City and drop ship one of them fancypants outfits???
We'll unload it from your truck and then I can climb into the space where the Stave Master sat and I can ride to Tennessee!!! Win-Win for me.
-
Yep, Keenan has a real great design in this. I had to have one also. Haven't had the time to really spend a lot of time in "the driver's seat". I can remember the first bow I tried making out of hazelnut. I actually sat on the stave when using the draw knife! Not only uncomfortable for many body parts, but it was a little risky! haha
-
I picked up one last year at the classic, best money I ever spent on bow making. I do need one of those tool caddies though Keenan ;D I'll pick it up at the classic.
-
I have not been able to stand and chase rings for over 3 years, and now I can work on them all day. To say that Keenan's stave master saved me from not making bows, is an understatement. I love it and am now able to do what I love. Thanks again so much for a great product Keenan.
-
Thanks guys for all the positive feedback. Just knowing that it is helping people enjoy making bows moves our hearts.
JW I'm cutting clear across the US from Oregon so your welcome to jump in but you have to ride in the fancy chair facing forward with a big grin on your face. Fair warning,,,,,I had to clean the windshield allot last time. >:D >:D >:D I've heard most bugs are 90% protein :o
-

I got this mental picture of JW on top of your truck, sitting at a stave master, working a stave all the way to the classic.

Bevan That might even make the evening news! :o "Strange path of yellow shaving cutting across the United States, Leads to rehab for Rapid City man"

Well the first thing ya know JW's in the air, all the folks on PA said move away from there... They said that The Classic is the place ya ought to be so the loaded up the truck and they moved to tennesse... hills that is, yellow gold, from a tennessee tree!!
Damm no sleep last night ???
-
Now that was good Kip, Almost lost my dinner!

I'm aughing so hard I can hardly see thru the tears. Remember Jim Carey in "Me, Myself, and Irene" with all the bugs in his teeth and grinning like an idiot? I would be pleased to resemble that remark.
Coaster, that was funny, pure genius!
-
Not genius, more like delirious :o
