Title: Thank you bow
Post by: Olschool on March 30, 2012, 09:33:23 pm
A little over a year ago my boss at the time came back to the range at Cabela's in Buda TX where I worked in archery while I was showing some of my selfbows to my co-workers. When he found out they were made out of Osage he said that I needed to come out to his ranch and cut some!
Not wanting to let an oppertunity pass, the next day off found us out with the chainsaws.
Keith, my ex-boss, shoots wheelie bows, but  I decided to make him a bow from some of his wood.
It came out 59" NTN and 48#@28".

CBM, it shoots so sweet I was tempted to make him another one and keep it for myself. He asked for a bow of around 45#, this stave had nice rings and I had to narrow the limbs to get the weight down. At the tips they are only one and a half rings thick.
Adam, the quiver is from Mike's Archery Leather, very comfortable and well made.
Thanks, David

Dictionary, I have been using tung oil finish on my bows, this one has 7 applications, then I use a coat of paste wax well rubbed. I like Osage as it ages and darkens to a dark coffee color.
The Grip wrap is a Burgundy leather from Tandy leather. I wasn't sure I was going to like it until I stretched some around the grip and saw the colors in the sun.
