Title: Birch Bark Backing
Post by: Prarie Bowyer on April 12, 2012, 03:57:24 am
Does birch bark work well like this?  Where would one get this (baring the obvious).

I found this guy making Birch Bark quivors on Etsy that I'm looking at.

Not much point except as a cosmetic camo or for waterproofing sinew. It works great for that as a thin layer.
I'm not sure  how avaialble it is to people who don't live in Birch country but I'd be careful about possible purchasing some without inspecting it closely. It is quite variable and a roll that may be suitable for basic craft work may be totally unsuitable for backing.
 Where are you located?

General rule of thumb i have found is the colder the weather the better the bark.
