I've had this one done a week or so, but I needed to do some more tip work on it..but finally finished it up. A true static Osage recurve. Its 59.5" long tip to tip. and 68# @ 26" unbacked! It is an arrow screamer for sure. my 60-65 spined shafts are a tad to light for it, gonna have to get some 70's. The tips line up very well, string tracks perfectly without any twist. The tips are Pronghorn Antelope horn. the tips have a couple streaks in them that is down into the horn which i'm not crazy about but they have some awesome translucent spots in them that kinda make up for it..lol. Im am super pleased with this one. My best 'curve to date for sure. Thanks for lookin at it! Ryan

That is one impressive bow! You sure did more than flip the tips.
-
Excellent in a word!!!!
-
Nice hooks on that baby, Ryan. That is a very sweet looking recurve and the tiller is spot on! 8)
-
impressive curves! sweet bow all the way around
-
Wow! That is incredible! I haven't made a recurve yet, so I can't fully appreciate all the work that went into it, but I'm thouroughly impressed.
-
Woa.... :o
-
awesome recurve and spot on tiller, amazing bow....nice work, bet you're well happy with that.......best static recurve self bow I've seen for ages..
-
Those are some wicked curves on that thing. I like it.
-
Incredible bow... I bookmarked this one for future reference.. >:D >:D Puts most static recurves I've seen to shame.. Incredible!
Do you have any pics of the caul you used to bend those tips! It must have been 90 degrees!
Jon
-
thanks a lot guys, yeah i want one that really hooked..i was sweating it hard hoping not to lift a splinter or crack it..lol my form is a tad OVER 90 degress..lol but i steamed it for about an hour (each limb) and bent it in 1 fluid motion and clamped it down for a couple hours. a little curve always comes out and i wanted to make sure it kept nearly 90 degrees of bend. never lifted a single splinter or cracked the belly. definitely the best curving I have done to date!
-
oh and this thing screams an arrow. i have found in the past that the static curves dont usually add much speed, but this one must be an exception. probably the 68# that feels really smooth b\c of the curves..lol whatever the reason its hard to believe the 60-65 spined shafts are a bit too light for it, i had to cut em down a bit and put lighter points on to get better arrow flight
-
Holy Cow, that's awesome! i gotta work up the courage to try that sometime.
-
man oh man you really can make one heck of a bow.
-

-
Looks really good, Ryan! Nice job all around. I like it all...overall shape, handle shape and color, tips...everything. I'm lookin forward to the day when I can do em like that one, for sure.
-
Bow of the year right there! The perfect recurve, ;D.
-
That is one awesome looking bow! When I attempt a recurve I will prob. have a few questions for you ;)
-
That's a Hot looking baby there, Ryan. It's got some curves. ;D
-
Ryan,
I've been admiring your bows for several years now. And this one is no exception. Very graceful tiller.
I have one question though, or maybe its a comment. I've always noticed that your fades are very steep. And I always find myself, kind of distracted by them. :). I think its because your tillers have such an even, pleasing bend, and the fades kind of contrast with the tiller. Of course I can fully appreciate wanting to get the most out of your working limbs, and this sin't a criticism, just an observation. You'd have tp give up some draw length if the fades were much longer, but... man, I think it would look sweeter. Maybe its a form vs function thing. Its just a thing I've noticed over the while. Thanks for posting your bows.

On second look, its just the bottom fade I'm talking about.

What a piece of craftsmanship.Gorgeous ! That things shaped like a cape buffalo ! ( Looks as strong ) ' Frank
-
wow what a nice bow. thats a lot of curve in those limbs
-
wow! amazing work. Your bows are always top shelf.
-
rely nice curves on that one
-
Another nice one Ryan.Beautiful curves. :)

thanks much guys
Ross- yeah its a matter of working limb, especially with this one b\c it is so short. I started making them with much more gradual fades but over time i have thinned them more and more. in fact i really dont like to see bows that have long rigid handle areas. i prefer to see a steep transition between limb and grip as opposed to a longer, flat no working portion in the bow. i really like it if i can accomplish making the bow appear to bend through the handle even if it does not. just a case of different strokes for different folks ;D
this is the best i can do for a picture of what i dont like without finding someone elses bow and saying "i dont like this" cuz thats not nice or supportive..lol but this is the 2nd bow i ever made and you can see the grip extends out further and doesnt work. also adds weigh. thats like those big risered recurves they have out nowadays..lol cant stand em.
-
Stunning bow. That osage takes some beating and just shrugs it off. Gotta try some one day.
-
WOW, that may be the prettiest bow I've ever seen. Now I know what I have to work towards... :)
-
That is an amazing bow! I love everything about it! 8)
-
Another beauty! That bow is awesome! Great work. Your really banging out some high quality bows
Jon
-
Look at that. A fine accomplishment, well done Ryan.
-
I know I said it all ready but man I love this bow!!!
-
Ryan
Beautiful bow for sure. Problem with me though is I can't pull 68 lbs. anymore. Thanks for sharing. Dean
-
I am impressed with the over all finish you achieved with this piece of wood, stunned by the symmetry and balance, and completely taken with it's simple elegance. That bow is a testament to your commitment to excellence!
I'm sure you can do better... But not much! ;) :)
-
thanks a lot everyone, it pleases me that so many have such nice things to say about it. I've gotten a lot of inspiration off PA that has probably pushed me to be to "particular" about my bows
-
great job Ryan.i like everything about it.
-
Yeah Ryan I defintely agree with you on the pic you showed there. There is a singificant amount of wasted working limb in that bow, plus it the extra long handle looks wrong. There's a middle ground somewhere :). And finding the balance is what bowyering is all about.
Thanks,
gabe
-
That's a tricky design to pull off at that weight - I'm impressed with your skill!
-
Wow!! That is some amazing workmanship brotha!! I think that is my favorite recurve if all time man ;) I've been thinking about trying my hand at one. After seeing how perfect this one is I just may go for it on my next bow! Thanks for sharing you work! Very inspirational :) :) :)

Beautiful bow! That is inspiring sight. A new level of wood torture.
-
That is a beautiful bow!! Tips are exquisite...
Very well done, man!!
-
Another very nice recurve Ryan. Great job. God bless
-
That bow is super cool.
-
I've been going back to the photos of this bow time after time trying to figure out what it is about it that sets me off. I finally figured it out...it's the string angle at full draw.
Go back and look at it again. You'll understand why. Yowza!
-
Man that bow is awesome.
-
thanks again guys
JW- what about the string angle catches your eye? :o
-
MAN I can't get enough of looking at your bow. Really great work.
-
Don't know what catches his eye ;), but what I like about that angle is that the recurve is actually working almost over the entire draw lenght. At full draw, the string is just pulled away from the limb, but only just. After all, that is what a recurve is actually about, besides from looking good.
This is a mighty fine bow, really a pleasure to look at. :-*
-
That is a fantastic bow!
