Just a wondering if I can expect the same characteristics from Juniper as Eastern Red Cedar? I've found a very nice stash of Juniper(on state land...lol) I'll try to get some pics when I go back, these tree's are PERFECT!!!!

Eastern red cedar is a juniper, since it is a species in the Juniperus genus.
Not all junipers are eastern red cedars, but all eastern red cedars are junipers.

Thanks Darksoul,I am aware that's its a juniper,I was hoping that someone who's worked juniper would chime in and give me some particulars.

We do seem to hear less stories of exploding western varieties of juniper so it must be a bit tougher. Of course the western style bows backed with sinew likely flatter that somewhat.
The juniper species do hybridize where the ranges overlap and that includes ERC and Western types.

You lucky lucky man! I love juniper just comibne it with sinew, lots of reflex and make a rocketship ;D

I have a paper bag backed ERC that I made and its a "rocket"without sinew,Its my new favorite wood  Thanks!!
