has anyone used weldwood's plastic resin glue for bowmaking?
-
I have and it works great. ;) Very similar to Urac but cheaper and with a longer shelf life. Alby, an old member from Italy used it and loved it. That's where I heard about it.
I used it on a boo backed yew bow, boo backed hickory and a hickory backed osage. Pat

does it need any kind of heat bax, or can i treat it like urac?
-
correction,..make that box!

It cures similar to Urac. Probably above 65deg(F) it doesn't need heat but will cure slow at lower temps.

VB, $5 for a 1# bucket of powder. Thats a lot of glue-ups. You can't beat the price. ;D Pat

i had stumbled across a 1# tub in my garage(the black hole!) and was hoping that it would be suitable for bow work. thanks for the responses, and keep it up!

Weldwood plastic resin is susceptible to moisture in its dry form. If kept in an air tight container there should be no problem. You might want to do a test with what you have to be sure it is still OK. Pat
