I am brand new but I have been watching my husband knap for years so I know a pretty material when I see it ;) The new platinum bottles are the most beautiful blue glass I have seen. I posted pictures of the fourth point I have ever made (which leaves a lot to be desired) but you can really see the beauty of the material!! Hope you enjoy and hope I can keep improving on my points. I know that I am getting a lot of good advice and help on this site!! Thanks!

I will have to look for "Platinum"next trip to the house of happy. That is a very pretty color, (reminds me of milk of magnesia bottle bottoms ). Nice point too ! ' Frank

I have to agree that its a purdy lookin point and cool glass but I did not care for the taste........When I was at the store, I saw the bottles and thought "OOHHH, those will make cool lookin points!" and now I dont want to finish them. :-\

I don't even drink but I saw the glass and made my husband drink them so that he could make points for me. He felt much the same way. Now that I have started trying to knap I am weighing the costs of dumping the contents. I figure it is $1.00 for each attempt at a point. Kinda like the carnival >:D

That is some pretty glass and a very nice point. Sky Vodka is a pretty blue bottle also but it would cost more dumping it out. ::) :P

Beer is a decent fertilizer and is used in slug traps, for you gardeners out there. ;)
Are the bottoms pretty flat? Most bottles I see these days have a very concave bottom.

Platinum is like Bud Lite with the flavor removed, sugar added, and a little extra alcohol. Sounds to me like they are marketing to children. Yech.
-
wow that sure is purty, it is reminding me to get some fiber optic glass in multiple colors, good for arrahs or necklaces
The convexity of the bottle bottom really annoys me though, feels like I'm starting at a disadvantage.
great points, keep it up

Nicer than a lot of my first point. Looks like you're getting the hang of it.

Don't know if anyone is still reading this thread but I thought I would tell everyone the info that I found out this weekend. I am sure lot's of you may have already thought of it but I found a bar that will give me their empty bottles. It is a great solution for those of you that don't drink, are too young to drink, or like Derik are loyal to their favorite. I currently have a place filling up a box for me with platinum bottles :P

Old Noxzema jars were a nice shade of blue. My wife suggested I try to knap a point out of one a few years ago but we could never find one big enough or intact. We even asked an old bottle collector if he would save some if he found any and he said he would but he never did
