Title: Best wooden arrow source?

I have some cedar arrows that shoot very well out of several of my self bows. Where is the best source for wooden arrows? I don't need a fancy arrow, just consistantly spined and straight ones.

I believe these are 45-55 spined.

You might look at Rudderbows website, too.  I think I'm going to order some of their Poplar shafting soon, their prices are pretty reasonable.  They don't carry Port Orford Cedar but they have Bamboo and Poplar.

What I've read about Poplar is that it's readily available, inexpensive (compared to PO Cedar), straightens easily and stains easily.  I have made a few shafts from Poplar board bought at Lowe's but it was labor-intensive and the spine was variable. I ended up going back to buying Cedar shafts.  I'm getting to the point where I will need some more shafting soon and realized that Rudderbows offers the Poplar shafting at almost half the price of PO Cedar.  Looks pretty good to me, so I'll give it a try.  Disadvantages of Poplar, it doesn't have that wonderful Port Orford Cedar aroma while you're working with it (or a consolation when a shaft breaks).  Other than that, I don't really know of any.

LOL, this is exactly why I used to buy PA magazine off the rack....for the advertisers and the suppliers of my addiction!!! 

Nowadays I subscribe and don't worry about the last issue getting grabbed before I get there.

Jim they are so easy to build you may as well learn to do it now. Its half the money, or less than you will pay for plain janers. And you know what you have when your done. Plus its fun. $45-50 bucks will get you a dozen if you have to buy the shafts, feathers and nocks.

I got an address from mullet. Ordered 500 cane for shafting, for about $75.00 plus shipping. It was still very cheep. Even if I give the bad half to JW (those who know him knows he deserves them) they are still cheaper than anything else I have found. I can now go back to making a bunch of squirrel arrows and not worry about getting them back from the trees.
