Based off the replies i got in my last post i think i will go to the lumberyard tomorow and pick up some hickory, and ipe for my warbow, with some ash and maple for my next hill style bow.
I will use some 1/4 inch x 72" lams of either cherry or walnut as a core. Since i want to go longer, i though that i could maybe taper the core to feather out with the last 2-3 inches of each limb would just be hickory and ipe, so the entire limb would taper, or should i just not use a core?
So what dimensions should i use? im thinking 80-90# and i want it really long to reduce stacking and to really lower the chance of breakage (76 ntn -80ntn?)
thanks for the help!

Hi!
With Hickory I have never worked, but it provides a solid back .. I have several warbows of bamboo and Ipe and they pull about 100lb.
If there are enough ipe, middle lam is not needed. 1 1/4 and 1" wide with 1/2 to 3/8 tips and 72 - 76" long for the basis should feel free to give 100lb.
This is only 74"long 34x27 mm in the handle - boo / Iroko / Ipe and pulled 136#. for 32"

it si 74" boo/ipe - 32x24mm the handle and 11x12mm at the tips, 100-110 lbs 32 "

These basic dimensions should give a good hickory/ipe warbow over 100#

1"x1" in center and 3/8 in tips for 76" easily gives 80-90# with rounded belly
