So I read a build-along yesterday where a guy feathered out a black finish from the handle into the limb, to create a nice looking transition to a lighter colour finish. He was using black leather dye, and used denatured alcohol to feather it out.
Can the same thing be done with normal wood stains? Would you still use denatured alcohol? Would paint thinner work the same way?

Yes it was. ;D
What a beautiful bow.

If you don't have leather dye you can use Rit dye mixed with alcohol and get the same effect.

Cotton balls work good for the fade look.

Thanks for the tips guys. I actually remember seeing some Rits dye at my local craft store, so I might go pick some up.
