This is a Lakota style bow that I made via the build-a-long by boarriorbows on YouTube. It was a definite labor of love and I enjoyed every minute of the build. She's 58" tip to tip and 56" ntn, my draw is 28" but I've yet to put a scale on it because I don't have one, plus I think the sinew still has a little curing to do. I'm guessing that it's around 45-50#. Made from Osage orange, backed with sinew and carp skins. String is Dacron B50, handle wrap is cheap leather from a craft store and I made the silencers from wool yarn. Anticipating my next build already.

Looks pretty nice......I see you are a fan of Zakk.
-
Glad to see a man enjoying himself. Nice bow.
-
Thanks. And yea, guilty of loving me some Zakk, haha. My one friend drew the two pictures right behind me.
-
Welcome .....that is one sweet looking setup, the colors work very well together ...keep em coming ;)
-
The color scheme was mostly out of a lack of options. I only have the tan Dacron, so that was that. lol And I'm already scoping out some more Osage for my next project. :)

Man-o-man that does this heart some good! :) :) :) :)
Glad to know the build-a-long was helpful, but all the credit goes to you as you were the one that held the drawknife and made it happen. That is one fine looking bow right there!
Congratulations on your bow!

Thanks for the positive feedback, everyone. I'm actually thinking about doing one with pike or muskie skins on it, if I can catch one that is. lol

Very nice bow. Did you stain under the skins to darken them like that?
Sinew never does quit curing.
-
Tom Sawyer, no, I didn't stain it. I use TBIII and it always has a dark brown hue when it cures. I was actually hoping that the skins wouldn't be so transparent, as I wanted a more gold look than the silver that it ended up. Still very happy though. :) Thanks again to everyone else who like it. Makes the effort al the more worth while.

Great job! Josh

You know, every time I string this thing up, I notice that the top limb is just ever so slightly stiffer than the bottom. I know it should be the other way around, but since it's shooting so well and has almost no hand shock, I'm gonna let this one slide. As my mother would say, "If it ain't broke, don't fix it." lol
-
Sure and next week the lower limb might be stiffer. Thats just how sinew is. You really don't want to chase it too closely.
-
That's why I figure that it's best to just let it be. With how it shoots, no sense in messing with it.
