Title: BBO question
Post by: possum on September 18, 2007, 01:40:51 pm
I started taking the bark off an osage stave yesterday.  It has serious valley's in the back.  Well, I plan on doing a bamboo backing on it so those aren't worrying me.  My question is whether or not to just make it flat or flat and straight.  Do I just decrown it and then straighten with heat or do I just flatten it disregarding the growth ring altogether?
First bamboo backing, as if you couldn't tell. ::)

With a stave you can just decrown it to add the boo backing. If you pre-tiller it first and add reflex at glue up you will be ahead of the game.   Pat
