Title: Pine resin
Post by: Tower on August 26, 2012, 11:34:40 pm
There is a 100% pine resin sold as a treatment for horses hoves. Its not as thick as pine tar. Before spent the $ does anyone know it this can be boiled down & pine pitch made from it?

I think that stuff has other ingredients in it also. Probably not good for pitch glue.

If it's @ a local place, ask the folks who use it what happens if they leave the lid off for a while?

All the stuff I've seen for the treatment of horse hooves is liquid...  more like a paint than a paste, for example.  Even if it says "resin" I wouldn't trust it.  Even if you could boil it down, there wouldn't be much left, IMO.

I would use titebond glue before I used the horse hoove treatment.   ::) ;D

Don, If you aren't in a hurry I can get you some. I just need to let the water go down in the Swamp from this Tropical Storm that went by.
