Title: Back...This time with pics
Post by: Corrado on September 03, 2012, 09:59:37 pm
I posted a few days ago without pics  :o well here it is. Nothing fancy, but its my first and I'm shooting pretty good with it. 47 pounds @ 28inches pignut hickory.

I've already started up my second one to do a couple things different. I'm interested in hearing your comments especially on the tiller job.. Thanks.

That tiller looks pretty solid.

Congrats on your first bow it looks great!

Do you plan to hunt with that bad boy or what?

Congrats on finishing your first, feels good shooting it don't it. Looks pretty good on tiller, if anything looks like your top limb may be bending a little to much, but much better bend than my first or second or third for that matter. Kind of hard for me to tell from that picture angle and I'm no expert to boot. I'd say you done good and are on your way to making even better bows.
Enjoy your bow, I bet you'll be making more.

Very nice tiller.  I like the color too, looks like it'd be great in the woods.  Just think of all the potential bows that are laying cut up in those woodpiles!

Thanks. pappy, I made the arrow pass midway in the bow, with the non bending handle incorporated with the lower limb length. The working portion of the lower limb is about 4 inches shorter than the top limb. I've read that it could be done this way or have both limbs equal length. I'm going to get some books on the subject. The next one should come out a bit nicer because the tillering snuck up on me and left a bunch of tool marks in so that I wouldnt lose weight. Seems to shoot well the arrows are flying straight.  I wouldn't know the difference though..I don't think I'll have a problem taking a deer with it. Lots of deer where I'll be hunting and have some close set-ups in mind.
