Got this little eight point last evening with the ERC bow.  Should be some fine table fare.

Well, there's not a terribly thrilling story behind it.  Most of the hunting around here is pretty but not remote.  I parked where the guy who lets me hunt has a little cleared area to park for the three or four of us who hunt there.  This particular spot is under 150 meters from the truck (there are a couple that are further.  I got a nice doe out here last year that was a quarter mile or so off, but that's about the furthest his property reaches.)  I sat there for a while, he walked out from the cedars behind me, and I shot him.  The good stories come from the weekend hunts when there is time to really put in some boot work to get to and from the really pretty spots.  ;)

I am really glad to have all the close, accessible "huntlet" opportunities though.  If I had to limit my hunting to just a few cramped weekends each year, I'd die.

That is a very nice looking deer, especially for a traditional bowhunt. I'd be absolutely thrilled if I managed to take even his runty little brother.

Thanks muches all.  I just ate a couple bowls of stew he provided me.  I'd sure as heck shoot him again.  Really tasty.  Just right.  I think he is better than the does from this early in the season while they are still kind of thin from raising kids.  Later on, after the rut, flip that.  But he sure is good right now.
