Title: hickory board question
Post by: BOWMAN53 on September 24, 2012, 08:59:02 pm
I have a hickory board that I making into a pyramid bow. 72" long and 2"wide  at the fades (over building). The right side is heart wood and the left is sap wood, is this an automatic fail or is it do-able?

It's doable as long as the grain is straight enough, I recommend a backing of some sort.

as long as the grain is fine, it's called beautiful ;)  I love the contrast on bows like these, just tillered one out to 29" like you just described.  took a lot of set because i think it wasn't quite dry, but no problems.  post a pic and we can tell better :)

if you're having trouble with pic sizing just use paint to re-size or to crop.
